The Power of Paper
Class # 16

Class Overview
In an increasingly digital world, we hear the word “paperless” on what seems to be a daily basis. However, paper is about more than just homework and files and documents. Paper is also about art, and about communication! In this fun summer course, you will make art and create meaning out of one of the world’s greatest inventions: paper. You’ll have a chance to make your own paper from scratch (it might get a bit messy!) and learn about different paper folding arts. You will learn how to use nature to enhance your creativity and your art. We’ll even make wearable paper styles and have our own fashion shoot. Finally, to celebrate the last week of class, we will make (and smash!) our own piñatas!
Teachers
Lexie Anfang

Lexie Anfang received her BA in Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth, and her MA in Education from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. She has spent the last 5 years teaching Language Arts at Forest Lake Area High School. This will be her first year at Summer Academy. In her free time, Lexie has experimented with every craft under the sun (and has the supplies to prove it). There’s nothing she loves more than a new project and a long, relaxing stroll through JoAnn Fabrics. She can’t wait to share her love of art this summer!
