Written & Illustrated By You!Class # 5 Grades: 2- 3
Do you love to tell stories? Do you enjoy reading, writing, and drawing? If so, the Summer Academy Publishing Company is the perfect place for you. Join us and use your imagination to write, illustrate, and publish a book of your very own. As part of this course, you will also meet a published author/illustrator of children’s books, learn various styles of illustration from several talented artists at the White Bear Center for the Arts, and learn about the art of bookmaking through our class trip to the Minnesota Center for Book Arts. Find out more about our class by visiting last year’s website:
Peg Ludtke taught Language Arts in the White Bear Lake School District for 33 years, but she has had a passion for writing since she was a teenager and is happy to be spending more time writing a blog and working on a novel now that she is retired. She has a B.S in Language Arts from the University of Minnesota and Masters in Liberal Studies from Hamline University. This will be her first year in the Summer Academy working with students who share her passion for story and writing.
Tiffany Dittrich is a passionate educator with 20 years of classroom experience in the White Bear Lake School District, including 13 years as part of an interdisciplinary course for gifted and talented tenth graders. She earned her BA in Language Arts from Bemidji State University and her MA in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary’s University. This is her third year as a member of the Summer Academy family, and she can’t wait to help her new students publish their books!
NOTE: Two sections are offered of this class, #05 and #06. Students can expect to be placed in either section, but should register for course #05.
